Schools again flooded with applications

Over 100,000 students have applied for acceptance at Slovak universities, competing for 35,000 available places. Schools report that some parents attempt bribery or even extortion to have their children taken.

In Slovakia, where the percentage of people with university education is less than half the EU average, the failure of the state system to educate more applicants is regarded as a major waste of the nation’s human resources potential.
