UNIVERSITIES are predicting that 7,000 fewer students will be accepted to study programmes this fall as a result of a new schools law that forbids charging fees for part-time courses.
While one of the Dzurinda government's declared aims has been to increase the number of university-educated people in Slovakia, the schools themselves have decided to close study programmes that used to be funded by fees from largely working students, saying they cannot afford to keep them open.
