President Rudolf Schuster and speaker of parliament Pavol Hrušovský have agreed that the president’s office should be consulted in the drafting of bills to avoid later conflicts over their content.
Members of parliament, however, have objected that the president has no such role under the constitution, and that the current procedure, in which the president returns bills passed by parliament for further debate if he disagrees with them, works perfectly well.
