The centre, to be named the Centre for Research and Development of Immunologically Active Substances will be part of the SAV’s Institute of Virology in Šarišské Michaľany, where SAV already has its detached workstation focusing on biotechnological applications.

In the new labs, SAV researchers will perform applied research focusing on bio-pharmaceuticals, vaccines against virus-induced contagious diseases, and on anti-microbes substances.

The project costs are estimate at €25 million, of which over €21 million will come from EU structural funds and almost €4 million from the state budget.
