Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) MP Tatiana Rosová has become the joint candidate of four centre-right parties – the SDKÚ, the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH), the Civic Conservative Party (OKS) and Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) – for the post of mayor of Bratislava’s Old Town district, the TASR newswire reported on Wednesday, August 25.
“An agreement has been reached between these centre-right parties. We are copying the coalition at the national and regional level,” said Pavol Frešo (SDKÚ), the president of the Bratislava Regional Government, at a press conference, adding that talks are also pending with Most-Híd on that party joining the coalition.
Rosová said she believes the coalition has the best chance of success in Old Town, which has traditionally voted for the right. Among Rosová’s plans, if elected, is to ensure that people feel more at home in their local area than property developers do. “We still haven’t discussed our joint programme – every party has its own ideas. We’ve agreed that we’ll form a pool of ideas from which we’ll create the best programme possible,” Rosová said.
