The Sme daily paper reports that some members of the leftist SDĽ ruling coalition party are weighing whether to leave the government after the failure of a non-confidence motion in right-wing Deputy PM Ivan Mikloš. Some party members feel that Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda’s threat to resign if Mikloš lost his post was political blackmail; the party is also frustrated that its proposal to change the share package offered for sale in gas utility SPP from 49 per cent to 24 per cent has been firmly rejected by its government partners.
