THE PRIVATISATION commission for the sale of a 66 percent stake in power producer Slovenské elektrárne (SE) did not choose a winner, giving investors more time to improve their bids, the SME daily wrote.
The commission evaluated three offers submitted by the Russian RAO UES International, Czech ČEZ, and Italian Enel.
According to unofficial information, the Italians offered the highest price - Sk40 billion (€1 billion) - followed by ČEZ with Sk31 billion (€775 million), and RAO UES with Sk19 billion (€475 million).
Apart from the three investors, Austrian Verbund also submitted an offer but the privatisation commission did not evaluate it, as the Austrians are not interested in buying SE as a whole, which is one of the conditions of the sale.
According to Pravda daily, the investors now have to clarify their bids. Although the prices offered for SE are different, the offers are hard to compare due to the various conditions of the individual investors.
A source close to the commission told Pravda that a decision on the privatisation could be reached in three weeks.
