South Moravian police arrested five men with 24 kilograms of the plastic explosive Semtex in their possession on July 21. The men, who were also carrying 30 detonators, were en route to Slovakia.
Aged between 22 and 52 years, the gang was corralled by Czech police at a gas station in the border town of Lužice; the men had been planning to sell the explosives in Slovakia for around 250,000 crowns ($5,900). The Czech police were tipped off to the gang's activities by their Slovak counterparts in Bratislava's Organised Crime Department.
