The Slovak Football Union (SFZ) executive committee overturned its previous decision to nullify a match won by VTJ Koba Senec against ŠKP Devín during the first match of the season because one of their players, Miloš Lipovský, had been issued a fourth yellow card on the last day of the 1997 season while playing for Lokomotiva Košice.
Had the SFZ upheld its previous decision, ŠKP Devin would have been eligible to play in the SuperLiga - Slovakia's first division - while Senec would have been excluded. The decision marks the first time in club history that Senec has qualified for SuperLiga action.
