THE HEAD of the Senec traffic police was detained on January 26 and charged with ongoing acceptance of bribes. The Interior Ministry said he was caught red-handed taking a bribe at his workplace.
From September 2010 until his arrest the officer allegedly accepted cash payments during working hours and at other times at the office of the traffic police inspectorate in Senec.
Bribes were supposedly paid to secure accelerated registration of motor vehicles, and for the identity of vehicles’ owners or keepers not to be checked, the SITA newswire reported.
