THE COCAINE king, one of the nicknames of Serbian drug lord Dragoslav Kosmajac, left Serbia using a Slovak passport.
The Interior Ministry confirmed on June 23 that Kosmajac is yet another prominent drug dealer from the Balkans who has Slovak citizenship, which he received on September 13, 2004 under the second government of Mikuláš Dzurinda (2002-2006), the Sme daily reported.
“We are now checking on all circumstances of this case,” Silvia Keratová from the ministry press department told Sme.
Last Friday, June 20, Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic labelled Kosmajac the biggest Serbian drug dealer and suggested he has links with the police, which could be the reason why there is no arrest warrant issued for him at the moment, Sme wrote.
Kosmajac left Serbia only hours after Vucic mentioned him at the June 20 press conference, crossing the little used checkpoint Jabuka into Montenegro as a free man, using his Slovak passport, Sme reported, citing the local Blic newspaper.
In the past, Kosmajac was wanted during the 2003 Sabre operation, when he was considered the key testimony for the connection of the Balkans with Columbia, where cocaine was allegedly coming from. Kosmajac is reportedly personally acquainted with prominent Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar, Sme wrote.
It remains unclear how he received the Slovak passport, Sme wrote.
