The town of Sereď and surrounding villages have agreed to the construction of a nearby wind park.
The decision was made after a second public discussion on the project and a public opinion poll were held, the SITA newswire wrote. "The talks so far have shown that there are no hurdles," Sereď Mayor Vladimír Vranovič told SITA. The wind park should be built on land in Sereď, Križovany nad Váhom and Vlčkovce. The company CE Energy, s.r.o. plans to spend about Sk1.4 billion (€46.47 million) building the wind park. It should include thirteen wind mills, 150m in height, with a nominal installed capacity of 2 megawatts.
CE Energy said construction of the wind park should begin in late 2009 and should not take more than three months. The project is currently undergoing environmental impact assessment after which the Environment Ministry is due issue its final opinion on the project. CE Energy investor will start to buy the land after a construction permit is issued. According to the Sereď mayor, the wind farm should eventually net the municipality income of about Sk1 million (€33,194) annually.
