Sherpa Apa, who has conquered Mount Everest nineteen times, more than any other climber, ‘blessed’ a new Czech Book of Records at the Magic Himalaya exhibition in Bratislava on November 24.
The book was earlier blessed in the Czech town of Pelhřimove, where record attempts are traditionally made, and in Indonesia, on the mountain peaks Tangbuhan Perahu, Domas, Merapi, Bromo, and Ijen on the Java and Lempuyan islands, and on Pluhbuh and Seraya in Bali, the book was also blessed. Locals took part in some of the festivities there. The book was also immersed in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
The ceremony to mark the book’s Bratislava launch was prepared in co-operation with the adventurer and traveller Rudo Švaříček, who organised the Magic Himalaya exhibition. The Museum of Records and Curiosities in Pelhřimov now has another exhibit following the blessing – the signature of Sherpa Apa. SITA
