SKIERS finally got the chance to enjoy some sun on the slopes when spring-like weather prevailed in many ski resorts during the second weekend in February.

But temperatures will turn mild again in the following week. Forecasts show warm air, rather than a cold front, flowing from the Atlantic to Slovakia, causing temperatures to reach around zero or even above.

However, sub-zero temperatures at night will provide a chance for resorts to use their snow machines, so there is no danger of a shortage on the slopes. But meteorologists warn that showers will hit Slovakia, and even ski resorts up to 1,300 metres above sea level, in the last weekend in February.

Vrátna will once again host ski and snowboard festivities during the weekend of February 24. At the Heavy Tolls Session, skiers and snowboardists will show off their acrobatic skills on barriers of various kinds.

And don't forget that Skočsi, the biggest festival of the season, will take place after a one-year break at Donovaly on March 1.
