The Attorney General’s Office has begun proceedings against far-right political leaders Anna Malíková and Ján Slota for allegedly inciting racial and ethnic hatred in their campaign ads ahead of September’s general elections.
Malíková and Slota, who led two wings of the formely united Slovak National Party (SNS), fragmented the SNS’ voter base and did not score enough support to win seats in the new parliament.
Slota said of the possible charges that his Real Slovak National Party had “just told the naked truth about what is happening in Slovakia and across Europe, where we are being threatened by minorities and gypsies.”
