Štefan Hajdin, a construction site manager and Slovak citizen, was abducted in Grozny on July 29 by a group of unidentified people dressed in police uniforms, international media reported. An employee of the Czech firm Stavoinform, Hajdin was working on the reconstruction of damaged buildings. Thus far, no one has claimed responsibility for the abduction, but the Slovak and Czech embassies in Moscow are working on the case. A number of specialists on reconstruction projects in Grozny have been kidnapped by Chechen separatists, but Hajdin is the first non-Russian victim.
