THE COUNCIL of Economy Ministers have approved the privatisation of the national airline, Slovenske aerolínie (SA), the Pravda daily wrote.
"The state currently owns 89.5 percent of SA through the transport ministry, with a share capital of Sk683 million (€17.1 million). The shares should go into the pocket of a strategic partner," said Tomáš Šarluška, the ministry's spokesman.
Finance Ministry Spokesman Peter Papanek said that the ministers had opened a way to the company's long-planned privatisation.
The state acquired a majority stake in SA last year. The call for bids for SA is expected in the fall.
