Slovakia's Prime Minister Iveta Radičová believes that relations between the Czech Republic and Slovakia are dominated by trust, friendship, and cooperation, she told the press after the meeting with her Czech counterpart, Petr Nečas, on July 19. The Czech Premier paid his first official foreign visit to Slovakia.
“I observed the tradition of all Czech prime ministers,” he commented. Nečas invited Radičová for a visit to the Czech Republic but she believes it was understood why this time her first steps led to Brussels instead of Prague.
In Brussels, the new Slovak prime minister discussed the hot topic of the European Financial Stability Facility and a loan to Greece. Nečas came to Bratislava by car instead of a plane, saying, as quoted by the SITA newswire, that it was a cheaper alternative. Moreover, he was travelling to Bratislava from a working meeting in Brno, which is just an hour's drive from the Slovak capital.
