A planned bilateral meeting between the presidents of Slovakia and Hungary in Sopot, Poland, this weekend – September 12-13 – is now unlikely to go ahead.
The heads of state were scheduled to meet during a Visegrad Group summit, at the initiative of Hungarian President László Sólyom.
Sólyom said in August that he wanted to meet his Slovak counterpart Ivan Gašparovič, but has reportedly cancelled the planned meeting, because Hungary says it is still waiting for Slovakia's response to a note demanding an apology and explanation following Sólyom’s denial of entry to Slovakia on August 21.
