THE EUROPEAN Parliament (EP) has rejected the Slovak candidate for auditor in the European Court of Accounting, the Slovak daily SME wrote.
The candidate, Július Molnár, was nominated by the cabinet and recommended by the Supreme Audit Authority of Slovakia.
The Slovak cabinet can either propose a new candidate or wait for a vote on the current candidates in the Council of Europe, which has the final say on the accountants.
According to SME, the Slovak cabinet does not plan to replace Molnár.
Robert Fico, the leader of the opposition party Smer, criticised the body for nominating incapable people. Paradoxically, Molnár has been a member of Smer for three years.
