Slovakia is taking over command in the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) mission in the Golan Heights.
"This is a prestigious post from the military, diplomatic and political perspective, which proves the quality of work the Slovak Armed Forces have done in this region," said Defense Minister František Kašický on Thursday.
Lt. Col. Michal Rohleder will command a group of approximately eighty military observers from 23 countries as well as a seven member staff. The group will monitor the zone of separation between Syria and Israel.
