The permanent council of the Slovak Conference of Bishops (KBS) has announced that it has no reason not to trust that Archbishop Ján Sokol told the truth when he said that he had not betrayed the Church.
Sokol recently admitted after being put under pressure from the media that he had been in contact with the communist secret service before 1989.
In its recent statement, the KBS council stated that the archbishop wrote a letter to the Pope assuring him that he had never acted in a way that would have been harmful to the Roman Catholic Church, to which he had always been, and always wants to remain, faithful.
