EIGHT people sustained injuries due to a collision between a Slovak tourist bus and a lorry near the Serbian town of Vrčin shortly after 7:00 on October 5. All of the injured people were released from hospital later that day.
“Seven treated [tourists] were soon released and came back in another bus,” Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry spokesperson Peter Susko told the Sme daily.
Susko told the TASR newswire that Serbia has dispatched a replacement bus that took the tourists to the Hungarian border, whereupon the Aeolus travel agency took care of bringing the tourists back to Slovakia.
Meanwhile, the eighth traveller was released later after undergoing further tests. Aeolus travel agency which operated the bus sent a minibus for her, according to Sme.
The bus carrying 51 tourists from Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary on their way back from a holiday in Greece had an accident on the highway connecting Belgrade and Nis.
Eva Pócsová of Aeolus denied any claims about bad technical conditions of the vehicle or health problems of the driver.
“According to information we have received, the bus hydroplaned on a wet road and hit the lorry with its front part,” Pócsová said, as quoted by Sme.
