When Slovakia administratively expels a foreigner from Slovakia, the
Interior Ministry will be obliged to provide a written explanation of the matter in a language that the foreigner is presumed to understand. This stems from a draft amendment to the Act on Residency of Foreigners, which the Slovak cabinet approved with proposals for changes on Wednesday, September 30, the SITA newswire wrote.
The amendment adds new facts that police will take into consideration upon deciding on administrative expulsion, such as the foreigner's health condition. The decision on expulsion will also have to contain a specific country to which the foreigner is to be expelled.
The draft stipulates reasons for expulsion, including presenting false, altered, or documents belonging to someone else. The draft also introduces changes to the process of granting a temporary residence permit. Foreigners who come to work in Slovakia for less than ninety days will not need a temporary residence permit. All students admitted for studies at Slovak schools will be eligible to apply for a temporary residence permit, SITA wrote. SITA
