The Slovak government launched a building insulation programme on May 20 for which it has designated €71 million garnered from the sale of carbon-dioxide emission quotas in 2008, the TASR newswire wrote.
The programme is aimed at installing insulation on buildings, with the State Fund for Housing Development (SFRB) providing loans to applicants. According to a report from the Construction Ministry, in addition to saving energy, the programme will create at least 8,000 new jobs. Possible applicants for the loans include collectives of private owners as well as building administrators who act on behalf of owners. TASR
