On July 27, Slovak dailies Sme, Nový čas and Plus Jeden Deň reported about a Slovak citizen who caught swine flu abroad and is in a serious health condition in Dublin. Sme writes in a story headlined “Our authorities did not know about sick Slovak”" that the health condition of the Slovak man who developed the novel (swine) flu in Ireland is serious.
Irish doctors are keeping him in an induced coma. The 30-year-old Bratislavan who has been working in Ireland for two years is hospitalised, allegedly with kidney failure. The spokeswoman for the Slovak Health Ministry, Zuzana Čižmáriková, confirmed the information which came via the warning system from Irish authorities. Slovakia has reported 32 people infected with the A (H1N1) virus to date.
