JANUARY 2, 2014 will be the last day the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) will exchange coins in Slovak crowns for euros. After that, crown coins will no longer be exchangeable.
All those who still have Slovak coins they want to exchange for euro coins can do so every workday from before noon in the NBS headquarters, or its regional offices in Nové Zámky, Banská Bystrica, Žilina, Košice and Poprad, Jana Kováčová from the NBS press office informed.
The NBS still records over 19 million banknotes, worth SKK 2.4 billion, and almost 392 million coins worth almost SKK 720 million.
The value of Slovak money still in circulation is SKK 3.84 billion, which is over €127 million.
