Consumer sentiment in Slovakia increased considerably throughout April as measured by the consumer barometer survey conducted by the Slovak Statistics Office (ŠÚ). The index increased by 11.5 points in April to reach a level of minus 20.8 points.
"Concerns of inhabitants came down regarding all items while the most significant drop was recorded with the evaluation of prospects of the economic situation and unemployment in the country," the SITA newswire wrote, quoting the ŠÚ.
Compared with three months ago, consumer sentiment improved 15 points and was nine points higher than a year ago. The improvement of over 15 points was thought to be a result of less concern about unemployment and worries about the economic situation. The planned savings by households, the current economic situation in the country as well as the expected financial situation of households improved by over 5 points in the April index.
