One of the two Slovaks detained at London’s Heathrow Airport on May 1 faces accusations of possessing dangerous material on board a plane. The other has been released, the TASR newswire reported on May 3.
“The first court hearing will take place today [May 3],” said spokesperson for the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry Boris Gandel, as quoted by TASR.
The man, who had an object similar to a detonator in his pocket when going through a security check, was unable to explain where it came from. His wife was released by the authorities during the night. The ministry is in contact with the man’s relatives, Gandel told TASR.
The group of altogether 11 passengers, mostly Slovaks and some Czechs, were heading from Vienna International Airport (Schwechat) to Las Vegas and were changing flights in London, TASR wrote.
