Slovak doctors leaving

MANY Slovak physicians are leaving to work abroad, though the Health Ministry says there is no need to panic.

According to the Slovak Chamber of Doctors, in the year following Slovakia's entry into the European Union, 562 doctors left for Western Europe, the daily SME wrote.

The number of doctors who have left to work abroad in the past year is the equivalent to the number of graduates from medical universities.

The Slovak physicians often move to the Czech Republic. Reasons for leaving include better salaries, better housing and better technical facilities in the hospitals.
