Slovak Economy Minister Juraj Miškov offered Russia the opportunity to participate in investment projects in Slovakia at a meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergei Ivanovich Shmatko. The Economy Ministry reported that Miškov stressed that Slovakia is particularly interested in investments with a higher added value aimed at building a knowledge-based economy.
The two ministers also discussed the interconnection of electrical energy grids and cooperation over nuclear energy. “The head of the Slovak Economy Ministry confirmed Slovakia’s readiness to increase the transit of hydrocarbons. Furthermore, Minister Miškov appreciated the support of the Russian side in signing an agreement of three parties on transport of nuclear fuel between Slovakia and Russia, via Ukraine, which guarantees fluent fuel supplies for our nuclear power plants,” added the Slovak ministry, as quoted by the SITA newswire. The ministry considers the Russian market to be important for Slovak exports of goods and services.
