PREŠOV-based Slovak engineering company Spinea, which is engaged in the development and manufacturing of high-precision reduction gears, is expanding.
It is investing €20.5 million into new production technologies and the creation of 60 new jobs for highly specialised workers. Part of the project is co-financed by EU funds, the SITA newswire reported.
The investment project spans from 2012 to 2015. Its result is the already standing production hall, which the company is gradually filling with new technologies. Out of the total investment, €15 million is allocated for the purchase of highly specialised high-precision machine centres, with €5.5 million being invested in the new hall.
Ľubomír Bezák, the company’s executive director, specified that Spinea not only purchased new production facilities, but also participated in their development with their producers because they are unique and adapted to their production.
“We are just in the phase when 50 percent of these technologies are already with us and the last pieces will not arrive until the second half of 2015,” said Bezák, adding that the investment is near its final phase, while the launch of the production planned for 2015.
The company manufactures about 40,000 high-precision reduction gears annually and wants to increase production to 65,000. It also announced a new generation of its patented flagship product. Its hi-tech products are used especially in industrial robotics, automation, machine tools, radar, camera and navigation systems, as well as in military and medical technologies. The reduction gears enable robots to manipulate objects with accuracy to one hundredth of a millimetre. They are also installed in CERN’s accelerator in Switzerland.
The company, launched 20 years ago, employs 360 people and its only competitors are three Japanese companies. Its strategy is to increase production capacity to 100,000 products annually by 2020. It exports 97 percent of its output, the SITA newswire wrote.
