Slovak Film and Television Academy announces awards

The Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) held a gala evening at the historic building of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava on April 27, honouring domestic actors and films with its annual awards, the TASR newswire wrote. The Sun in the Net Award (Slnko v sieti) for exceptional achievement in Slovak cinematography went to actor Ladislav Chudík and script editor Albert Marenčin, who received the most applause and a standing ovation from the audience.

A total of five awards were garnered by Peace of Soul as the best feature film, with the best actor (Atilla Mokos), best supporting actress (Helena Krajčiová), supporting actor (Juraj Luknár), and camera work (Martin Štrba).

“The film was acclaimed at festivals in France, Germany and Belgium. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it impressed people very much,” said the film’s director Vladimír Balko.

Five awards also went to Blind Loves for best director (Juraj Lehotský), best documentary film, best screenplay, sound effects and editing.
