Slovak finance minister declares readiness for spending cuts

The Finance Ministry is ready for fluctuations in the collection of taxes and has prepared a reserve in the budget to cope with this scenario, Finance Minister Ján Počiatek announced on May 12.

The minister added, following a cabinet session on Wednesday, that the government was ready for more cuts in spending if necessary. "If more cuts are inevitable, we are ready for this in the second half of the year if, of course, we are in government," he told a news conference.
