Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslav Lajčák spoke at a meeting of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers in Strasbourg. The supreme decision-making body of the Council of Europe meets once a year and one of the topics it is dealing with this year is the reform of the system of
protection of human rights and streamlining the activities
of the European Court of Human Rights, the SITA newswire reported.
“We are convinced that the ongoing reforms should result in even better
protection of the rights of 800 million Europeans,” Minister Lajčák said in his speech, as quoted by the SITA newswire.
“Slovakia wants to continue in open dialogue with monitoring mechanisms aimed at reaching the highest possible standard of human rights guarantees for our inhabitants,” he added.
