Slovakia's GDP per capita for 2003 was 52 percent of the average for the EU25, adjusted for purchasing power parity, the TASR news agency wrote.
The GDP figures per capita among the 25 European Union member states ranged from 41 to 215 percent of the EU25 average, according to figures published on Friday by Eurostat, the EU's statistical office.
Luxembourg posted the highest GDP, but Eurostat noted that this was slightly exaggerated due to the fact that a large number of foreign employees commute to the country.
Among the ten countries that joined the EU this year, Cyprus and Slovenia had the highest GDP per capita, 83 percent and 77 percent of the EU average respectively.
Latvia, another new member, reported the lowest figure of 41 percent.
