On Wednesday, July 21, the Slovak cabinet will cancel the positions of two government proxies, as Prime Minister Iveta Radičová (SDKÚ) announced last week, the SITA newswire reported.

One of the positions is the proxy for speeding-up the construction of preferred road transport infrastructure in Slovakia – the already former chairman of the board of directors of the National Highway Company (NDS) Igor Choma held this position. After the June election, Choma has become an MP for Smer and the new Transport Minister Ján Figeľ (KDH) recalled him from the position in NDS last week.

Similarly, the position of proxy for youth and sport – held by Dušan Galis – will be cancelled as Galis has entered Slovak Parliament as deputy for Smer. The last recalled proxy (for the information society) will be Pavol Tarina who is also supposed to leave his chair on July 21.

Radičová told the TASR newswire she considered both cancelled positions unjustified. On the other hand, two new proxy positions should be formed: a proxy for the non-governmental sector and a proxy for public administration.
