Prime Minister Robert Fico has already discussed this issue with representatives of the foreign shareholders of Slovak gas utility Slovenský Plynárenský Priemysel (SPP): Bernard Reutersber - managing board chairman of E.ON Ruhrgas and Pierre Clavel - general director of GDF SUEZ Energie Europe.

"The Slovak prime minister and the foreign shareholders also spoke about price developments, which are currently quite favourable. This allows us to consider adjusting the prices of natural gas for households downwards, while September 1 may be the first relevant date to introduce such a decision," reads a statement provided to TASR by Fico's spokesperson Silvia Glendová.

She added that it's up to SPP and the Office for the Regulation of Network Industries (ÚRSO) to prepare suitable price proposals. ÚRSO spokesperson Miroslav Lupták told TASR that a reduction in prices is possible. "When the regulated entities submit specific price proposals, we'll deal with them," he said.
