On May 9 the Slovak national ice hockey team won 4:2 over the team from Kazakhstan at the 76th Ice Hockey World Championship held in Hartwall Arena in Helsinki with the TASR newswire writing that the Slovaks first scored in the 2nd minute but nevertheless the match was thrilling and the score was tied 2:2 at one time.
Vojtech Vújtek, the Czech coach of the Slovak team, told the SITA newswire that his team sometimes does not feel well as the favourite, especially when under pressure of their position in the chart and knowing that they have to win to make it to quarterfinals. The Kazakhs are not a weak team at all, Vújtek added.
The score of goals in the match was 1:1, 1:0, 2:1 and currently the Slovak team has six points in the A group chart, thus placing third after Finland and Canada. The Slovak team lost against Canada and Finland and won over the USA. The next game is on Saturday, May 12, against Belarus.
