Reporter Eugen Korda, who had until recently worked for the Sme daily’s online television unit, will leave his profession to be among the top 10 candidates on the candidate list prepared by the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities party chaired by independent MP Igor Matovič for the March 10, 2012 elections, the Sme daily reported.
“The idea of Igor Matovič,¬ who gives space to decent and honest people, has persuaded me,” Korda said in explaining his decision, as quoted by the Sme daily.
Matovič believes that Korda fulfils the criteria for entering politics.
“I consider him a person who cannot be bought for a bowl of lentils,” Matovič said, as quoted by the daily.
Korda has worked as the head of Sme’s video department since 2007. He worked for STV before but reportedly was forced to quit after he drew attention to flaws in the investigation of the case of Hedviga Malinová, the student who has claimed she was attacked in Nitra for speaking Hungarian in public.
