“In spite of the fact that this kind of activity is not directly part of the regulations, you acted like real soldiers and your reaction saved the health and property of coalition soldiers, while you continued to control the continuity of traffic and security at the entrance and exit points of the base,” said Brigadier General Jeffrey Kendall, who commands troops serving at the air base in the province of Kandahar, as quoted by the SITA newswire.

During heavy rains, the soldiers noticed a breach in the water dam located behind the base and immediately organised the diversion of cars and people who were entering the airport in Kandahar. Later in the day they started repairing the damage and cleaning up the mess the water had left behind.
