Machinery and vehicles constituted the largest category of goods among Slovakia’s exports to Italy, making up 58.2 percent of total exports in 2009. This was followed by market products (17.9 percent), industrial products (9 percent) and chemicals (5.5 percent).
In terms of individual goods, TV sets made up 20.2 percent of exports, followed by passenger cars (19.6 percent). After a large gap there followed raw aluminium (3.4 percent), air pumps (2.8 percent), hydrocarbon gas (2.7 percent), washing machines (1.7 percent) and others.
Machinery and vehicles also dominated Italian imports to Slovakia, but their share was smaller (34.3 percent of total imports from Italy in 2009), followed by market products (28.1 percent), industrial products (10.6 percent), and chemicals (10.4 percent).
No individual products dominated in Italian imports to Slovakia over the last four years. The chart was topped by gas hydrocarbons, with a share of 7.1 percent, followed by car components (3.8 percent), pharmaceuticals (3 percent), iron products (2.4 percent), air pumps (2.4 percent), plastic products (2.2 percent), valves (2 percent) and passenger cars (1.7 percent).
