The new legislation supporting renewable energy sources and efficient co-production of heat and power, which will take effect on August 1, was published in Slovakia’s Law Code on July 29, the SITA newswire reported.
The Economy Ministry, the initiator of the law, says it provides a comprehensive solution to supporting electricity production through highly-efficient co-generation and from renewable energy sources, SITA wrote.
The priority is to save primary energy, avoid losses in the transmission network and cut emissions of greenhouse gases, particularly of carbon dioxide. The law provides the same kind of support for both renewable energy sources and combined power and heat generation. The ministry also said that efficient energy use via co-generation and from renewable energy sources will positively contribute to energy supply security. SITA
