Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák and Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek on Tuesday, May 19, presented a bid by Slovakia to locate the headquarters of the Agency for Co-operation among Energy Regulators (ACER) in Bratislava, the Foreign Affairs Ministry told TASR on the same day.
The Government decided to bid for the ACER headquarters last October. It argues that Slovakia is a crossroads for energy routes in Central Europe and views energy as a vital part of its national economy. The first talks on placing ACER headquarters are set to be conducted at a session of the EU Council of Energy Ministers in Luxembourg on June 12. Several EU-member countries have already promised to support Slovakia's bid. TASR
