Slovak operators see roaming regulation as unnecessary

SLOVAK mobile operators do not believe that the European Commission's regulations on reducing roaming charges are necessary.

"There is a general trend in Europe towards reducing prices through bilateral agreements between operators. Regulation in this sector is not needed," Orange Slovensko spokesman Peter Tóth told the SITA news wire.

T-Mobile Slovensko spokesman Juraj Droba said that regulations are not a good way of reducing roaming charges are because they represent a form of interference with the free market.

The new regulation by the European Commission requires operators to reduce the costs of using a mobile phone abroad in the European Union.
