Speculations about alternatives to the euro weaken the stabilisation mechanism itself and are risky, Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radičová said at a discussion forum of the HN Club on Tuesday, December 14 (HN stands for Hospodárske Noviny, a Slovak financial daily).
She ruled out cabinet consideration of a “plan B” to return to the Slovak crown as the currency in Slovakia which Speaker of Parliament and leader of the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) ruling coalition party Richard Sulík suggested as a possibility on Monday, given the ongoing problems in parts of the eurozone. “The government has not thought about a new crown for even a second. I find such thoughts very dangerous,” she told the SITA newswire.
