The man stated that he carried out the robberies because he lacked money after losing his job. He robbed banks in Šamorín, Dunajská Streda, Galanta and Sládkovičovo as well as two Sládkovičovo betting agencies. He was unsuccessful in two other attempts: he left the Dunajská Streda bank without any money, as an employee of the branch fainted during the robbery. He also failed in an attempt in Galanta where he received a bag with money containing a dye pack, which blew up and destroyed the money. Ladislav Papp from the Galanta police told the SITA newswire that the weapon the man brandished was a fake. The man faces a possible prison term of seven to twelve years.
