Slovak police have detained a man for growing and distributing marijuana that was worth about €88,000, the TASR newswire reported.
Peter H. from Palárikovo, aged 41, was accused by the Office for Fight against Organised Crime of producing and trafficking illegal drugs and drug substances. The suspect is in pre-trial custody and faces 10 to 15 years in prison, according to the Police Presidium’s spokesperson, Denisa Baloghová.
During a search of the suspect’s house in Palárikovo in Nitra Region, police found 149 cannabis plants, more than 1.5 kilograms of dried product and a complete laboratory for growing marijuana indoors.
Baloghová said the seized drugs could produce 17,000 doses worth about €88,000, adding that the raid was made after long-term surveillance of the man, who she said had been growing the plants since at least the beginning of summer.
This is the second recent arrest for marijuana cultivation in Slovakia after police detained Erik H, 27, from Šaľa, who the police charge had marijuana worth €100,000 in his home.
