On Wednesday, Slovak Police officially denied that Dušan Cinkota, an actor convicted of serious drugs offences, had been acting as their agent, contrary to his claims. Police President Tibor Gašpar said, according to the Sme daily, that Cinkota met one police officer but their discussion had nothing to do with the case in which he was detained with 200 doses pervitin, a synthetic metamphetamine-based drug. Cinkota, who was sentenced to eight years in prison, is currently being sought by police in Banská Bystrica, Sme wrote on Thursday, December 13.
Bratislava Regional Court on December 5 convicted Cinkota to eight years in prison after rejecting his appeal against the verdict of a lower court, the SITA newswire wrote. Cinkota was found guilty of drug trafficking. During the original trial at the Bratislava IV District Court in March, Cinkota, who had already been arrested for drug possession, claimed that he was cooperating with police as an informant to uncover drug trafficking activities. He added that he was instructed by police to meet another defendant, Martin Havran, and that his main task was to find “kitchens”, i.e. places where drugs are prepared.
