Eight kilograms of heroin worth €1.35 million, cleverly hidden in car roof, was seized by the Slovakia’s National Anti-Drug Unit at a petrol station in the Petržalka district of Bratislava, the SITA newswire reported.
The police operation was nicknamed Boro and four persons were detained, one of whom has already been accused. The group of Slovaks who were importing heroin from abroad was followed for over three months by police. One of the main organisers sent a courier to fetch drugs form Macedonia, according to information supplied to SITA by the spokesperson of the Police Presidium, Andrea Polačiková.
Silvester C. smuggled the drugs and met the organiser at a petrol station on Einsteinova Street, where they were both detained. The accused person is the courier, age 42, and he is in custody. He could face up to 25 years in prison or even a life sentence.
The heroin was found in the car’s roof upholstery with the help of a special device designed for finding hiding spaces in vehicles. In addition to the drugs, a handgun with a silencer, ammunition, a digital scale, a forged passport and a white crystalline powder were found. The case is still under investigation and police refused to comment on possible charges against other persons. SITA
